Official opening of the Business Accelerator UKIM

Business Technology Accelerator UKIM was opened with official ceremony with took place at the premises of the Center for Transfer of Technologies and Innovations - INOFET on February 18, 2019.

The President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, the Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Maria Gabriel, Minister of Information Society and Administration, Damjan Mancevski and the Director of the Fund for Innovation and Technological Development Jovan Despotovski, addressed on the official ceremony.

Accelerator UKIM is a business-technology accelerator established to identify and support the growth and competitiveness of the most promising technology entrepreneurs, startups, spin-offs and scale-ups in Macedonia. Support includes tailored pre-acceleration and acceleration programs, early stage investments, and access to international markets, networks and communities. Accelerator UKIM is founded Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (UKIM), Crimson Development Foundation (CDF), CEED Hub Skopje, RSM Macedonia, and the Foundation Prof. Dr. Dimitar Stamboliev, and co-financed by the Fund for Innovations and Technology Development of the Republic North Macedonia. It is the first of this kind of accelerator in Republic of North Macedonia that combines the expertise of the biggest and most technologically advanced university in Macedonia, an investment/lending firm, financial advisory organizations, and business support institutions.

The best business ideas will have access to investments in the form of equity and / or debt instruments, or a combination of them The funding conditions will be tailored to fit the opportunity, sector, market, in the amount of:

1) Pre-Seed Funding: In the amount of EUR 5,000 to 25,000 used for product design and development, and / or early revenue generation.

2) Seed Funding: In the amount of EUR 25,000 - 75,000 aimed for scaling-up of the business, market penetration, and / or revenue growth.

The funding will be in the form of equity and/or debt instruments, or a combination of financing products. In addition to the funding, Accelerator UKIM will actively support the funded startups with market development, networking, and fundraising for follow-on investments.

Accelerator UKIM was established by: University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, Macedonia as a lead partner; Crimson Development Foundation; CEED Hub Skopje; RSM Macedonia; Foundation Prof. Dr. Dimitar Stamboliev and co-funded by the Fund for Innovations and Technology Development of Macedonia.

The Science and Technology Park was promoted as well, which will be located on the technical campus of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius. The park should enable citizens to develop new skills, create new ideas and create important innovations and inventions in order to startup their businesses.
